When the world breaks,

Create something.

Be the god of the gutter.

A penny copper Zeus.

A clay Krishna.

An acetate Itzamna.

If the gods can't keep

Your world from shattering,

Be the god of a new world

Of paint, and sawdust,

Of words that rhyme

And notes that chime

Scripture in minor key.

Be the poor god

of something new

And maybe the apocalypse

Will pause in wonder.
